The Client

Burns Pet Nutrition are a globally recognised brand of natural, nutrition-driven pet food with over 6,000 stockists. They offer a wide range of specifically developed pet food and nutrition products, pet nutrition support. Originally founded in 1993, the company now employes over 140 staff and provides directly to consumers and through it distributors. Developed by Veterinary Surgeon John Burns – a natural pet food pioneer - Their products are designed specifically to manage common health problems in cats, dogs and rabbits.

THE BRIEF

The Tinpac Team approached Burns Pet Food to discuss the opportunities of a Pet Food gifting Tin. The project was well-received and started a 6 month NPD project for a Christmas Gifting offering for the brand. The brief evolved through the NPD process resulting in a two-size format that would serve a re-usable storage container for existing pet food products.

THE SOLUTION

Following a range of NPD design ideas and drawings, along with 3D prototyping and various pre-production sampling, we were able to find a harmonious balance between function, form and snazzy design that aligned to business’ brand while being eye-catching and meeting the brief. The final solution was two designs in two sizes with stackable lid design and a cardboard outer wrap that allowed the Tins be matched to any marketing campaign by simple re-printing the sleeve/wrap.

THE RESULTS

Higher Than Expected Sell-Through-Rates

The final product enjoyed higher than expected demand from resellers following the initial launch. This has resulted in Vita Libarata looking at Tin packaging for further products lines.

Brand Engagement & Elevation

Fully meeting the brief of this project saw positive feedback and engagement from both customers and partners, backed by healthy sales data.

Delivered Early & On-Budget

Final delivery was achieved ahead of schedule meaning the packing and preparation for launch was achieved using non-china supply.
